Southbury- Alice Patelson passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022. She was born in New York City and was the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Patricia (Lenn) Patelson
Alice was a dancer with the NYCBallet Company during the 1970’s under the direction of George Balanchine.
In 1972, the NYCBallet Company toured the Soviet Union and Poland where Alice danced in major cities which included Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, and Warsaw. In 1973, Alice spent six weeks in West Berlin making films of ballets with the NYCBallet company. Later on, she attended Fordham University at the Lincoln Center campus in New York City. In 1995, Alice wrote and published her autobiography: “ Portrait of a Dancer, Memories of Balanchine.” Both Heritage Village Library and the Southbury Public Library have a copy of her book. Alice has resided in Heritage Village, Southbury, CT since 1986.
Alice is survived by her loving sister, Sally Patelson.
