Mrs. Zella M. Hall, 99, of Ridgefield died Sunday January 15th, 2012 at Glen Hill Nursing Home in Danbury. She was the widow of William Robert Hall.
Mrs. Hall was born May 25, 1912 in Round Up, Montana a daughter of the late Martin and Rose Mlekush.
Zella moved to Mamaroneck, New York and was married for 48 years to William R. Hall, a vice president of International General Electric.
A longtime resident of Heritage Village in Southbury, Zella was known as the oldest female golfer at Pomperaug Golf Course, continuing to play until the age of 96. She took great pride in never using a golf cart and attributed her longevity to daily 3 mile walks. Zella continued to bowl on two leagues until the age of 97. She received numerous titles and awards for both sports.
A catalogue model in her youth, Zella continued to be known for her fashion sense her entire life. She was involved in numerous community activities and performed as part of the Southbury Tri-Centennial. At one of her many gala functions, a young Ronald Reagan even danced with a young and glamorous Zella Hall.
Zella leaves behind a daughter, Dr. Darla Shaw and her husband Ben of Ridgefield, two grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Marty Mlekush.
