Obituary


SOUTHBURY- William Henry Young, 69, of 1583 Southford Road, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Claxton) Young.

Mr. Young was born January 14, 1937 in Laconia, NH, son of the late James P. and Edith May (Willies) Young. He was owner of B & M Delivery Service, with his wife, having been employed by the Waterbury Republican-American Newspaper for 30 years. Mr. Young was also service manager for Minute Auto Care and had worked for Cole Brothers Lumber Co. and as a driver for Moe's Auto Parts. Mr. Young also owned and operated Young's Gun Chop in New Preston.

In his younger years, he drove racetracks in Plainville, umpired the girls softball team in Washington, CT. He loved old cars and had restored many and enjoyed building model planes. He was vice president of the Country Ramblers CB Club. In his later years, he completed courses in boating and watercraft and received his diploma from Foley-Belsaw Institute in small engine repair.

Besides his wife of 44 years, he leaves a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Young of Southbury, five sons, William F. Young, Michael James Young and his wife Lisa of Naugatuck, and their three sons, Josh, Jimmy and Allen, Ken T. Young and his wife Lori and their children, Machell and Little Ken, Jim H. Young and his two children, Chrystal and Neal and Cole D. Young, one brother James P. Young and his wife Pearl of Jefferson, NC.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, Main St. South (Rt. 6). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd. Suite 105, Meriden, CT 06450, American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the Christian Appalachian Fund.
