Obituary

William Hewitt Walker, 87, of Woodbury, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Walker was born March 5, 1924 in Alameda, CA, son of the late Theon James and Eleanor Maria (Vaughn) Walker. He has resided in Woodbury for over 40 years. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Architecture and received his master's degree from the School of City and Regional Planning. He also served as a resident fellow at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's studio academy in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Mr. Walker was a self-employed architect having designed numerous residential projects in the San Francisco area. As Vice President of the Heritage Development Group he played an integral role in the development of Heritage Village in Southbury, CT. He was a colleague of Charles Warren Callister, served as Director of Planning for the Rossmoor Corporation, was past president of Bristol Systems, Inc., Canandaigua, NY, and was also an associate of Otto Paparazzo for projects in Farmington, CT.

He leaves a son, Graham Hewitt Walker of Waterford, VA, a sister, Eleanor Faye Tierney of Tiburon, CA, two grandchildren, Hannah Elinora Walker and Lucy Beatrice Walker and beloved friend Sarah Cooke. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Jack Walker and two sisters, Kathryn Walker Graham and Gertrude Elizabeth VadeBoncoeur.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Services: A memorial prayer service will be held Saturday, October 8, at 4: 30 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.

Visitation: A visiting period will be held on Saturday, October 8, from 3: 00 to 4: 30 p.m., at the funeral home.
