It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of our brother, William (Wild Bill) Albert Slager. Born on June 3, 1948 in Waterbury, he was the only son of the late Albert and Florence Slager of Oakville and the brother of the late Sandy Ryan of New Canaan.

Bill was a 1967 graduate of Watertown High School, where he played varsity football. He graduated in 1971 from Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) in Charleston WV, earning a degree in history. Bill enthusiastically shared his knowledge and appreciation of art, history, literature, and music with the cousins, nephews, and niece.  He leaves his heartbroken sisters Sharon Chamberlin of Delaware and Susan Rehkamp of Florida. He also leaves a very dear friend, Sue, of Waterbury. A special niece, Kelly Ryan of Williamstown, MA predeceased him. Although many relatives moved away from the Waterbury area, caring for and keeping in touch with Bill was a constant. For the past 17 years, Bill considered Robin Ridge Apartments his well-loved home. The residents there became his second family. A private graveside service in Woodbury will be held at the convenience of the family.
