Obituary

After living a good and faithful life, William Emmanuel Maurer of Southbury, CT, was called home to the Lord on July 14, 2022. Born December 25, 1928, to Anna C. (Braun) and Joseph H. Maurer in Yonkers, NY, Bill is survived by his "Bride" of 67 years, Agnes "Pat" (Cullen) Maurer.

As a daily Communicant, Eucharistic Minister and Lector, he also was a member of the United States Army serving in the Radio Unit protecting the Golden Gate Bridge, was also actively involved in Boy Scout Leadership, served as a Volunteer in the Cape Canaveral, FL, Hospital, a Volunteer Ambulance Driver in Valhalla, NY, and Heritage Village in Southbury, CT, the Lion's Club and Tax Preparer for VITA along with various other organizations, and was always ready to lend a hand when needed. He was a dedicated husband and father, leaving a legacy of love and thoughtfulness, he set an admirable example of how to live life. He faithfully served his God, his Country and his Family; he was a man of few words, but of deep, abiding integrity and wholesomeness.

Bill was a National Rowing Champion in 1954, rowing for the NYAC; he enjoyed tennis, sailing and camping and he could build or fix almost anything. In 1956 Bill began his 32-year career with IBM as one of their first Customer Engineers servicing computer equipment. This new role was published in IBM's Think magazine highlighting him and his young family. He is survived by his 6 "good" children (as he called them): Christopher J. Maurer (Susan) of Sherman, Mary P. Guertin (the late Armand) of Bethel, William J. Maurer (Patricia) of Southbury, Vincent DeP. Maurer (Bernadette) of Veira, FL, Margaret M. Montouri (John) of Hopewell Junction, NY, Elizabeth A. Marcoux (Timothy), Carolina Shores, NC; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his 3 brothers, Joseph, John and Gerard, and their spouses and grandson, David I. Guertin.

Bill left this world a better place and he will be sadly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 22, 2022, Sacred Heart Church, Southbury at 10am.
