Obituary

The family of William "Bill" Patrick Kelly, 88, of Southbury, CT is deeply saddened to announce his passing on July 30th, 2025, at Monarch Southbury. Bill was born in 1937 in Waterbury, CT the son of Francis and Elizabeth Brophy Kelly.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Kathleen Bennett Kelly of Southbury and his children Karen (Matthew) Adams of Bristol, CT, Mark (Roxanne) Kelly of Mesa, AZ, Joseph (Yvonne) of Bethlehem, CT, and David (Jennifer) of Mesa, AZ along with 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Bill started his working career at The Bristol Company when he was 18 years old and retired after 38 successful years.  After retiring he truly enjoyed working part-time at the (former) Elaine's Flower Shop in Woodbury and at Gainfield Farms Golf Course in Southbury.

Bill served in the National Guard and earned the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged after many years of dedicated service.  One example is even though he couldn't swim he went out into the flood waters by boat to help rescue victims of the devastating flood of 1955.

Bill was a loving father and excellent role model for his children.  He was well liked and was known for his sense of humor, kindness and positive personality.  He especially enjoyed visiting with his friends over a cup of coffee in the afternoon at Dunkin Donuts.  He loved to make people laugh and always had a joke ready to tell. He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, watching UConn Men's and Women's basketball, and their winter trips to Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Francis "Frank" and John "Jack".
