Obituary


William (Bill) George Clark of Woodbury, CT, age 88, died peacefully Saturday, June 20th after a brief illness. Bill was born in Meriden, CT and was a long time resident of Woodbury. He was happily married to Nancy Barry Clark for 39 years. He is survived by his sister, Claire Bennitt of Branford, CT and his children and grandchildren: son Peter Clark and his wife Marguerite Starr and their children, Thayer & Ben Clark; son Fred Clark and his wife Terri L. Clark and their children, Paige & Wyatt Clark; son Stephen Clark and his wife Penelope Igo Clark and their daughter, Hannah Clark; daughter Amy Clark Barry and her husband Alan Barry; and daughter Melissa Clark Umbsen and her children Max & Zachary Umbsen.

Bill graduated from Cheshire Academy, served in the Navy at the end of World War II, and attended Yale University, class of 1950. He then held various managerial positions at eyelet manufacturing firms in the Waterbury and Meriden areas. Upon retirement he pursued his passion for gardening by working at Lexington Gardens in Newtown, CT. He was a member of North Congregational Church of Woodbury and many nature and wildlife organizations.

A quiet and reserved man, Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. He shared these pursuits with his children and grandchildren, passing on his love of the outdoors. Throughout his life Bill's interests included painting, reading, and music.

Funeral: North Congregational Church

Services: The family will hold a Memorial on July 18th at 11: 00 am at The North Congregational Church of Woodbury, 11 Main Street North.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
