Obituary

Mr. William B. Canfield, Sr., loving husband of Jean Canfield for 60 years and father of Linda Canfield and Bill Canfield died on Saturday March 20th at Waterbury Hospital. With his kind, gentle spirit Bill has shared his love and guidance for his four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His silent strength and positive attitude toward life endeared him to his many friends while living in Easton, Stepney and most recently in Southbury. He is also survived by his two brothers, Clarence and Leon Canfield and his close cousin, Elaine.
Born on the 4th of July in 1925, Bill was a proud Navy veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific on the USS Izzard. Upon his return from duty, he began his career in the construction industry that would lead him to start his own company as a General Contractor, known for over 40 years for his dedication to quality restorations, renovations and building practices. The family business was assumed by his son, Bill, and inspired the career of his daughter, Linda, as an interior designer.
After moving into Heritage Village, Bill served as an EMT on the Ambulance Association. He enjoyed outdoor activities, following the Mets, parties and sharing laughs with those fortunate enough to be around him. He will be missed by many and remembered with a smile and love.
