William Milton (Bill) Zilbersher, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2016, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare Center in Ridgefield, Connecticut after bravely struggling with Alzheimer's.
Bill was born on February 14, 1923 to Louise and Abraham Zilbersher in Elmhurst, New York. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-46 holding the rank of First Lieutenant. He went on to earn his Bachelors of Science in Geology from City College of NY as well as his Masters degree in Geology and MBA from Harvard University. In his professional capacity as a prominent international minerals executive he traveled extensively to North, Central, and South America, Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa where he held senior management positions in minerals exploration and mining projects.
In his leisure, Bill enjoyed entertaining with his wife, family, and friends in Woodbury, CT. He loved the outdoors and spent many summers travelling with his family all over the United States and Canada. He seemed happiest when he was either on a beach, fly-fishing, or golfing with his sons. Bill was an avid reader, especially of Civil War history, and enjoyed learning new languages. He was quite the raconteur, a caring person, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was extraordinarily accepting of all people and cultures.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maryon (Billie) Zilbersher; children, Anne (Peter) Sherwood, Bradley (Valerie) Zilbersher and Curtis (Marieke) Zilbersher; grandchildren, Nicholas Zilbersher, Alexander Zilbersher, and Max Zilbersher and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
