William D. Berth, 80, of Roxbury, CT passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, after a lengthy illness, at Waterbury Hospital.  Bill was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Schivilla) Berth. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Berth of Roxbury, CT; stepsons, Arthur and his wife Tammy Retalis of Fort Myers, FL and Peter Retalis of Danbury, CT.; as well as his sister, Sarah Bares of Winsted, CT. He had three grandchildren, Zachary Retalis D.O., Nicholas Retalis and Katie DeLuccia. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy, based out of Norfolk, VA.  Professionally, he retired from Otis Elevator in Farmington, CT where he worked as an engineer.

Bill was predeceased by his parents William and Ellen Berth of Bridgewater, CT; his stepson, Phillip Retalis, M.D. of Maitland, FL; and his sister, Nancy Campbell, of Traverse City, MI. He is survived by Lisa and Jamie Bares of Winsted, CT, and Nathaniel and Robert Campbell of Traverse City, MI, his nieces and nephews.

Bill was always smiling and joking with his larger-than-life personality.  He was always filling the lives of those around him with joy and laughter.  Bill was a member of the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Police. In addition, he was a member of the Northwest CT Dog Club, where he enjoyed showing and breeding his Bernese Mountain Dogs and Tibetan Mastiffs with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets and New York Giants.

Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday May 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Roxbury Center Cemetery. A Celebration of Williams life will be at the Roxbury Town Hall immediately following.
