Obituary


Wesley E. Chalker, 92 of Southbury, CT. Died on Thursday, November 17 at "The Hearth at Southbury" where he was a resident the last five years.
Born in Middletown, CT on July 5,1924 to Egbert and Martha Chalker, he lived his entire youth in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School. Following high school, he enrolled at Northeastern University in Boston to study engineering. His studies were interrupted with the outbreak of World War Two and he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was accepted in the V-5 Naval aviator program and earned his aviator wings in 1945. He was about to be assigned to a Pacific Aircraft Carrier as a torpedo bomber pilot when the war ended. He then returned to Northeastern to complete his engineering studies. He graduated from Northeastern with a B.S in Mechanical Engineering.
During his working career he was employed by Farrel-Birmingham, Bridgeport Brass, SKF Industries and New Haven Copper. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Bonita Springs, Florida.
Mr. Chalker was married to the late Helen Doyle of Middletown, CT for 68 years. They had four children who survived them. Wesley, Jr. and his wife Marcia of Mendham, N.J.; David of Newington, CT.; Nancy Mastrobattisto and her husband Perry of Woodbury, CT; and Thomas and his wife Elizabeth of Clinton, CT. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Wes was proud of his family, loved his wife, and a friend to all who knew him. He was a member of "The Greatest Generation" and will be sorely missed! God speed to a kind and gentle man.

Services: There will be a funeral service to be held at 3: 00pm on Tuesday, Nov 22 at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North

Visitation: Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov 22 from 2pm to 3pm at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North
