IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Warren Stewart
Carlson
December 29, 1928 – October 4, 2014
Warren Stewart Carlson, of Woodbury, CT, passed on October 4, 2014 at Danbury Hospital. He was 85 years old. Warren was born December 29, 1928 at Bridgeport Hospital, the son of the late John William and Helen Carlson. He was the husband of his loving wife, the late Jean H. (Hoboken) Carlson..."An angel in his life" as all would say. Upon graduation from Fairfield High School, Warren joined the Navy where he specialized in radio communications. He served aboard the USS Johnson as a seaman from 1947 to 1950. Upon locating property in Woodbury, where he loved the tranquility of country living, Warren personally drew blueprints and began the excavation of his land to build the home he regarded as his "piece of Heaven on Earth," on which he placed a herd of cattle, 200 chickens, two ducks, two geese and two swans. It was where he resided until his hospitalization on September 25, 2014.
Warren was an extremely frugal man. He pinched every penny toward the goal of starting his own business, "Carlson's Quality Roofing." He closed the business and retired after 25 years of prosperity.
Warren was an avid hunter and trapper. He was a hand gun enthusiast and rifleman. His hobbies included competitive marksmanship where he was awarded many trophies and medals. He enjoyed fishing, country music, dancing, playing Pinochle at the Senior Center and reading with a particular interest in U.S. history.
Warren has left many mourners behind and is survived by his daughters, Patricia Warwick and her husband Eric of Palm Harbor, FL, Lane Carlson of Monroe, Karen Lewis of Sandy Hook and his son, Warren John Carlson II of Copaigue, Long Island. He was predeceased by his sister Joan and brother Raymond.
