Obituary


Warren C. Anschuetz, 86, of Southbury, died Monday, July 9, at Bethel Health Care Center after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Burns) Anschuetz. He leaves a son and daughter-in-law Richard A. Anschuetz, MD. and Judy A Anschuetz of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter and son-in-law Donna A. Spencer and William C, Spencer of Southbury; a sister, Gladys Charles of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania; and a granddaughter, Katherine N. Anschuetz of Anchorage; four step-grandchildren Brian Swanson of Crosby North Dakota, Michelle Poeschel of Fairbanks, Alaska, Abigail Spencer-Crafts of Cape May, New Jersey, and William P. Spencer of St. Louis Missouri; also there are 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Warren and Bea lived and raised their family for 44 years in Florham Park, New Jersey. They moved to Southbury in 1996. They were active members of United Methodist Church in Woodbury, CT after moving to Southbury. They had spent many years previously as active members in Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park.

Mr. Anschuetz was born in Millburn, New Jersey, to Mary and Clarence Anschuetz and grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. He earned his BA degree from Upsala College in 1942, then served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 - 1945, stationed in the South Pacific and fought in the battles of Tarawa and Okinawa.

After the war Mr. Anschuetz earned a Master's Degree in Finance, in 1951, from New York University. In 1951 he joined the Prudential Insurance in the private placement Bond Department. He retired from Prudential as General Investment Manager and Vice President of Finance in 1977. He and his family spent a great deal of time at a house that Mr. Anschuetz himself built by hand in Cooperstown, NY, where many of their relatives lived. He enjoyed fishing at his Otsego Lake home and cheering on his beloved New York Rangers and New York Giants. He volunteered at The United Methodist Church and at Heritage Village where he resided.

A Memorial service will take place Wednesday July 11, 2007 at 11 am at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home 235 Main Street North, Southbury, Connecticut.
