Walter S. Woodstead, Sr., 86, of Woodbury, CT, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at home with his son Walter S. Woodstead, Jr. at his side.

He was born in Queens, NY and was the son of late Alf Konrad Woodstead & Bertha Matilda Woodstead of Brewster, NY. He grew up in Bedford Hills, NY and was previously in the Army National Guard of Connecticut and a member of the US Army Reserves as a sharpshooter.

Walter was an avid gardener, loved fishing and a dedicated animal lover who always had a beloved canine by his side. He was a Systems Controller for Readers Digest Association in Pleasantville, NY, for over 30 years and retired to the Southern Outer Banks, Crystal Coast of North Carolina. There he kept busy working as head of maintenance at Coastal Pools, Jungleland Amusement Park, and head of maintenance at the Peppertree Resort.

After his 3rd wife, Jolane (Dickerson) Woodstead of Atlantic Beach, NC, passed away he returned to New England to be nearer to family.

He was also predeceased by his siblings, Alfred Donald Woodstead, Harold Alan Woodstead, Bertha Helen Woodstead, and Arthur Martin Woodstead, as well as his 1st wife, Deanna Louise Hockenjos, He is survived by his four children, Karen Tolbert of Mitchell, IN, Barbara Tryon of Elizaville, NY, Walter Woodstead, Jr., of Woodbury, CT, and Jeffrey Woodstead of Bridgewater, MA; his sibling, Kenneth Charles Woodstead of Bedford, NY, his 2nd wife, Carolyn Piazza of Elizaville, NY, and his Sister- in-Law, Lauren Russell of Brevard, NC. Additionally, there are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
