Walter John Whiteside Senior, 91, of Southbury, CT, passed away on April 25, 2025. Walter was born in Waterbury, CT to Elizabeth Dixon and Robert Whiteside. After graduating from Crosby High School, He attended the University of Bridgeport. Walter was drafted by the army where he served in the Korean War. Walter shared his love of Japan, where he was stationed during the Korean War, with his loved ones.  He later lived in Evergreen Colorado before moving to Southbury two years ago. He was a loving father and husband and known for his incredible craftsmanship with model trains and model shipbuilding. Walter was also an avid photographer, who won numerous photography awards over the course of his career.  Walter loved to travel, and spent many summers along the coast of Maine, sharing his love of the sea with his family and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his father, Robert Whiteside and his mother Elizabeth Whiteside. Walter is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Carol Whiteside, son Alan Whiteside, daughter Linda Scatena, daughter Debi Boshouzen, daughter Roseann Morton, and son Walter Whiteside. Walter is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00am at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home located 235 Main St. N.
