Obituary


Mr. Walter John Golymbieski, of Woodbury, 82, died on Saturday April 13, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving husband Virginia (Bianco) Golymbieski
Walter was born on March 27, 1931, son of the late Walenty and Rose (Krawczyk) Golymbieski He was a graduate of Crosby High School, class of 1949 and attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Maryland before joining the Air Force during the Korean conflict. During the Korean war, Walt served as a crew chief for B-29s, earning the rank of staff sergeant. After leaving the service, he joined Chase Brass & Copper Company as a metallurgical engineer and then received his BA from the University of New Haven. Later, he was plant manager at Noranda Industries. Walter was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Waterbury Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Woodbury Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Woodbury Democratic Town Committee. He was also a mentor for Junior Achievement.
Walter was an avid athletic at Crosby High School. He was co-captain of the football team and played track and field, and baseball. Later, he was Pee-Wee football coach in Wolcott.
Walter was a jack-of-all trades, dabbled in painting, and enjoyed working in his yard and on projects around the house. Walt also loved to read, do crossword puzzles, salt-water fish, and camp.
In addition to his wife Virginia, he leaves his daughters Linda Golymbieski of Asheville, NC, Lisa Golymbieski of Southbury, and Leslie (Golymbieski) Murray of Woodbury, grandchildren Sophia and Michael, and several nieces and nephews.
Walter also leaves behind his sister Ann Golymbieski and brother Robert and was predeceased by his brothers Henry and Richard.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: Church of the Nativity

Services: The funeral will be held 10: 00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 beginning at the Church of Nativity, 48 East St, Bethlehem. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Woodbury.

Visitation: Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury on Thursday, April 18, 2013.
