Obituary

Virginia 'Ginger ' Golymbieski, 83, loving wife of the late Walter J. Golymbieski, passed away peacefully in her home on February 11th 2015 surrounded by loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ginger was born in Waterbury on May 13, 1931, the first of six children born to James V. and Florence (Daury) Bianco. She attended Wilby Hugh School before graduating from Lee High School in Lee, Mass. After graduation from Waterbury Hospital (WH) School of Nursing in 1952, Ginger "did it all" to use her own phrase at her eventual retirement from nursing. She was a staff nurse, head nurse, private duty nurse, per diem nurse, and instructor at both the WH School of Nursing and Department of Nursing Education. Additionally, she was a nurse recruiter, developed the Golden Years Senior Wellness Program, and served as Assistant Coordinator of the Evergreen Club 50. Ginger was past president and board member of the WH School of Nursing Alumni Association and a member of the board of the WH Auxiliary Association.

Ginger was a Girl Scout leader and longtime member the Democratic Town Committee in Woodbury. Ginger will always be remembered for her love of cooking, traveling, swimming, reading, her two grandchildren, and her devotion to her Catholic faith.

Survivors include her three daughters: Linda Golymbieski of Asheville, NC; Lisa Golymbieski and her husband Robert Gumbardo of Southbury and their two children Sophia and Michael; and Leslie Murray and her husband Andrew of Woodbury. Ginger also leaves behind her siblings Joanne Truelove, James Bianco, Dotty Bianco, Marie Lowe, and Robby Bianco.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers of Hartford Health Care, their Hospice team, and the caregivers of Independent Living Service for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Ginger and the emotional support provided to her family.
