Virginia B. Borkowski, age 91, formerly of Huntington, CT, and Heritage Village of Southbury, passed away on Tuesday, April 23rd, at Complete Care of Middlebury. She was born in Ansonia, CT, and is the daughter of the late Felix and Estelle (Michavoza) Bygott. She is the beloved mother of her daughter, Christie (Dennis) Good of Woodbury, CT, and her two sons, Jay (Tammy) Borkowski of Oxford, CT, and Karl (Kelly) Borkowski of Byron, Maine; her grandchildren: Devin (Elena) Good of Chesterbrook, PA, Olivia Good of Royersford, PA, Sydney Borkowski, Sage Borkowski, Quinton Borkowski of Oxford, CT and Arianna Laracuente of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Borkowski, brothers John P. and Walter J. Bygott, and sister, Mary Kovaleski.

Virginia had an engaging spirit, a zest for life, and a unique style. She was a former beauty queen, voted Miss Housatonic in 1952. A woman ahead of her time, she had a diverse career, beginning with establishing a fabric store and decorating business out of the family home. She held various secretarial positions at the University of Bridgeport and ended her career at Sikorsky Aircraft, retiring in 1999. After retirement, she also enjoyed being a realtor with the former Heritage Village Realty. She had many creative talents, sewing, painting, stained glass, and singing in the church choir.

A mass will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, at 11 am at Saint Lawrence Church 505 Shelton Ave Shelton, CT. A private burial will follow at Lawn Cemetery in Huntington. Arrangements courtesy of Munson Lovetere Funeral Home of Woodbury, CT.
