Obituary


Mr. Vincent P. Daury, 87, a lifetime resident of Woodbury, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Watertown Convalarium. He was the beloved husband of Ruby (Daniels) Daury. Mr. Daury was born in Waterbury, the son of the late Ruth (Karrman) and Paul Daury. He was a veteran of the Army during WW II for 3 years, serving overseas in France and Germany with the 138th Ordinance Maintenance Battalion, 20th Armored Division. He worked for Anaconda Metal Hose in Waterbury as an engineer and production supervisor for 40 years before retiring in 1982. Mr. Daury was active in town affairs most of his years before retiring. He spent his retirement very busy in his workshop building furniture, carving animals and weaving Nantucket style baskets. He enjoyed traveling and playing the organ. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 67 years and by his four loving children and 5 grandchildren; daughter Patricia A. Parker and her husband Ronald of Prospect and their 3 children, Darryl Parker of Prospect, Kenneth Parker and his wife Amanda of Bristol and Karen Parker of Naugatuck and her fiance Richard Barbiero; son James P. Daury of Torrington, daughter Judith A. DeCarlo of Plymouth, MA and daughter Elizabeth E. Computzzi and her daughters Christina and Alexandra Computzzi of Woodbury. He was pre-deceased by a half brother, Charles Westerlund and a very close sister-in-law Alma Judson and her husband Donald. He will be missed by his extended family who he was very close to; brothers-in-law Charles Daniels and his wife Maxine of Las Vegas and Richard Daniels and his wife Peggy of Woodbury and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Daury had many school friends in Woodbury he kept in touch with, especially his graduating high school class of 1938. He built two homes in Woodbury, living in the second home for the last 45 years.

Services: Funeral service and burial are private.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St.
