Obituary

The family of Valerie Ann Moore is saddened to share her peaceful passing on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in Southbury, Connecticut. She was 90 years old.

Valerie, who was known to all as Ann, was born in London, England in 1935 to her parents Rona Mary and Albert Martin. Raised in Andover, England, she attended school in London where she spent many nights sleeping in the "Tube" during the Blitz in the late 1930's and early 1940's. In addition, Ann attended college in London.

Ann moved to the United States where she held many jobs but was known as excellent seamstress. Ann was a life member of the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) and volunteered for many years at The Emmanual Church in Weston, CT, and The Church of The Epiphany in Southbury, CT.

Ann was an avid gardener and enjoyed summer Wednesday night family dinners at Compo Beach and, later in life, enjoyed her own form of painting and learning about technology/social media, so she could communicate with her grandchildren. Ann disliked smiling in photographs, using her hearing aids and singing in public.

She is predeceased by her parents and her husband of forty-nine years, Frederick Moore. Ganyea as she was named by her grandchildren, is survived by her stepsons Jeff (Donna) and Greg (Nancy), daughter Nichola and son Robert (Kim), her grandchildren Michael (Devin), Brian (Sara), and Kennedy.

Ann will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and her love for her family. Her wisdom and her Keep Calm and Carry On outlook, which were gifts to all that knew her.

Ann's memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, November 15, 2025 at The Church of the Epiphany in Southbury, CT. with family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to The Nature Conservancy and The Church of The Epiphany of Southbury, Ct.
