Tyler Andrew Kniery, RRT, CPFT, 22, of Southbury, died Monday, December 2, 2013 in Phoenix, AZ. Tyler was born December 12, 1990 in West Palm Beach, FL, son of Kevin and Leisa (Fout) Kniery. Tyler loved his family and friends, his dog Haley and his car. He loved traveling, gardening, snowboarding, playing pool, ping pong and chess. He enjoyed soccer, long distance running, 5 K's, and sprint triathlons. He worked at Harding Farms and the Stop & Shop Supermarket in Southbury. Tyler was a 2009 graduate of Pomperaug High School and 2013 graduate of the Naugatuck Valley Community College Respiratory Care Program where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was on the Dean's List. He was a member of the Pomperaug H40 Club, the Pomperaug High School Cross Country team, the Pomperaug Track & Field team, and the Pomperaug Swim and Dive team. He was a member of the Tampa Bay Comets Premier Soccer team and was a Benito Symphonic Band Baritone player. Tyler was a certified soccer referee and a chess instructor for the Southbury Park and Recreation Dept. He was a member of the Southbury Baptist Church and Youth Group, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Young Life Youth Group, and a Southbury Baptist Sound Team Engineer. Tyler was a volunteer with M-Fuge where he helped clean up homes after Hurricane Katrina and with World Changers, helping renovate impoverished homes in Tennessee. Thinking of others, Tyler was an organ donor. He continued helping others even after his death. Besides his parents of Southbury, he is survived by his brother, CPT Kevin Ryan Kniery, MD, MPH; his uncles, Charles Preston Fout, Tom Kniery, Patrick Kniery and Michael Kniery; his aunts, Rose Fout, Jeri Kniery, Janice Kniery, Rita Bockowski and Margie Rigby and her husband Jeffrey; and many, many cousins.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury
Services: A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7, at 2: 00 p.m. at the Southbury Baptist Church, 114 Roxbury Road, Southbury.
Visitation: Calling hours will be held Friday, December 6, from 5 to 8 pm at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.
