Tokiko Okamoto Thorp, 76, of Southbury, the loving wife of the late Fred Thorp died peacefully Monday October 23, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Tokiko was born May 28, 1947 in Tokyo, Japan. Tokiko was a housewife for many years bringing up her son, James Thorp until she fulfilled her dream, opening Kabuki Japanese Steak House in Danbury, CT. Tokiko was dedicated to operating her restaurant. She loved her customers and the many employees that had worked with her through the 27 years they were open. Before opening Kabuki, she was a member of the Woodbury Junior Woman's Club. She also enjoyed traveling overseas with her family and spent the summers in Japan. The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the staff at Hospice and River Glenn and close friend Mieke Weggeman for the great care and kindness they shared. She will be missed. A memorial service will be held between 3-5 pm Thursday, November 16th at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main North St., Southbury. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
