Mr. Timothy I. Munson Toolmaker
Timothy Ingram Munson of Southbury passed away peacefully at his home on January 7, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tim was born November 11, 1959, in Southbury, the son of the late Kenneth Munson Sr. and the late Marjorie Ingram Munson. A lifelong resident of Southbury, he was a graduate of Pomperaug High School, Class of 1978. Tim enjoyed caring for animals of all kinds, working in his shop, and tending to his yard with his wife, Lisa. He had a love of classic rock and roll music and was an avid fan of auto racing, often attending the Danbury Races in his younger years. He took pride in working with his hands and personally remodeled several of his homes, a testament to his skill, patience, and attention to detail.
A highly skilled toolmaker, Tim spent more than 45 years providing precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and repair work for several local manufacturers as either an employee or through his own company. He owned and operated The Munson Tool Company from his home shop for 25 years, specializing in production tooling, prototype development, and machine repair jobs. He was known to friends and family as a generous and skilled problem solver- always ready to help with a solution, a spare piece of metal stock just the right size, and a smile.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa (Lauterbach) Munson; his stepson, Michael Cooper, and his wife, Tiffany Cooper; his grandchildren, Aiden Cooper, Gavin Cooper, and Eliana Cooper, of Woodbury; his brother, Kenneth Munson Jr., and his wife, Joni Munson; his sister, Marlene Munson, all of Southbury; and his nephew, Kenny Munson, of the Philippines. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth Munson Sr. and Marjorie Ingram Munson, and by his younger brother, Edward “Teddy” Munson.
All services are private. Arrangements are by Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Woodbury.
