Obituary

Thomas M. Story, of Woodbury, CT. passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on Thursday December 15, 2016 with his family by his side.
He was born on December 6, 1949, in Petersburg, VA. , son of Thomas Story and Helen (Wheeler) He attended Naugatuck Valley Community College with a concentration in Business Administration.
He worked for Robert Shaw, and later for his father in law's company, Preyco Manufacturing. He developed an interest in police work, and joined the CT. State Police Auxiliary, became a part time officer, then a full time in Woodbury, where he remained on the job until his retirement. During his years he received recognition for meritorious service, and a stork pin for assisting in the delivery of a baby. He most recently worked part time in the office of Woodbury Storage.
He enjoyed helping others, and was active in several charitable organizations. He joined the Woodbury Lion's Club in 2004. He was actively involved in the annual car show, the haunted hayride and served as luminary chair for many years. He was on the scholarship committee and served as Club president for a year. He transferred to the Bethlehem Lions, where he was elected President though he could not serve his term when he became ill. During his time with them he received the Lion of the year award. He enjoyed being a Justice of the Peace, and was honored to have married many friends. His final ceremony, as a justice of the peace, was for his son in law, Mike Ribeiro and his beautiful wife, Danielle. He was a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club since 1984 and served as secretary, treasurer and President. He traveled to 49 states on his bike. He also enjoyed boating and riding quads. He especially enjoyed spending time with his neighbors and friends on Barbara Lane who were a tremendous support to him over the past months. A Special thank you to Dr. Sabbath and Nan Bergamo along with the staff, at the Smilow Cancer Center in Waterbury. Their care and love shown through each time we were there.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis (Chabot) Story, his brother Michael Story and his sister Betty Barbier of North Carolina, his brother in law Marc Chabot of Southbury, and his son in law Michael Ribeiro and his wife Danielle. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Roger and Robert, and his beloved daughter, Christine Story Ribeiro.

Funeral: Church Not Applicable

Services: A Graveside service will be on Tuesday December 20, at 3 PM at New North Cemetery, Woodbury.

Visitation: Calling hours Monday, December 19, from 4 to 8 PM at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury.
