Thomas Patrick Nash, 51, passed away peacefully Monday, June 7, 2010 surrounded by his family at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT.
Tom was born October 10, 1958 in Summit, NJ. He lived in Colts Neck and was a graduate of Marlboro High School of Marlboro, NJ where he ran cross country. He was a member of the Colts Neck Reformed Church and active in the youth programs.
Tom graduated from The Ohio State University in 1980 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. During his career, Tom worked for Burroughs in Rochester, NY, Moore Business Forms (now RR Donnelley) in Grand Island, NY, and Pitney Bowes in Danbury, CT. At the time of his passing, Tom was Manager of Design Engineering at ID Mail Systems in Middletown, CT. Tom's passion was for design and he held 17 US patents associated with postal equipment.
While at Ohio State he met his wife, Cheryl (Worcester), and proposed to her at a school landmark, Mirror Lake. Tom and Cheryl were married September 15, 1979. They settled briefly in Rochester, NY and then lived for 19 years in the Greater Buffalo, NY area before moving to Southbury, CT in 2001. Their children were born in NY and Tom said it was "one of the best parts of (his) life".
Tom was an active member of his church. His love of music led him to participate in the choir and chair a committee to replace the organ at the United Church of Christ, Southbury, CT. Tom was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills and Sabers as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes, all becoming family traditions. His hobbies included reading, working on improvement projects around his home and traveling with his family. He was a wonderful father and husband, endlessly funny and caring, as well as the deliverer of sage advice and logical thinking. He always had a positive and optimistic attitude.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cheryl Nash, his son and daughter, Timothy and Lauren, his parents, Donald H. and Alice E. (Patrick) Nash of Hightstown, NJ, his sister Alicia Dimtsios and her husband Tom Dimtsios of Freehold, NJ, and his brother James Nash and his wife Judith Pellowe of North Alton, NH, and 6 nieces and 2 nephews.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Nash Scholarship Fund at The Ohio State University with checks made out to "The Ohio State University Foundation" notating Nash Scholarship Fund and sent to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, 201 W. 19th Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43210.

Services: A memorial service will follow on Sunday, June 13 at United Church of Christ, 283 Main Street North, Southbury, CT at 4: 30 pm.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 11 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT.
