Obituary

Thomas E. Balash, 95, of Danbury and Doaktown, NB, Canada, passed away Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Pope John Paul Nursing Home in Danbury. He was the husband of the late Anna Balash.
Thomas was born April 12, 1918 in Danbury to the late John and Anna (Turlick) Balash. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Thelma Green, (Roger), of Southbury and Patricia James, (Raymond) of Brookfield, 3 grandchildren, Kelli Green of Brookfield, Jason green of Naugatuck and Raymond James, (Lauren), of MA; 2 great-grandchildren, Lillian C. James and Levi James both of MA. He was predeceased by his grandson Charles Jennings.
Thomas was a world class gymnast and participated in the 1938 games in Prague. He was an avid fisherman all his life, fishing in Canada and the US. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Old Timers Club, Sokol, Fish and Game Club of Danbury, and a charter member of the Atlantic Salmon Hall of Fame in Doaktown, Canada.
