Therese (Terry) O. Korsgren, 85, of Southbury, passed away on March 8, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital with her family at her side. She was born in Bridgeport, CT April 10th, 1927, the daughter of Gosta and Alfhild (Nilson) Olson.
Terry was a graduate of Boston University, Class of 1949, and began her career as executive secretary to the president of the A. W. Haydon Company in Waterbury.
After taking time to raise four daughters, she began a new career in 1975 with Colonial Bank as a Mortgage Loan Officer. From 1978 to 1985, she worked for the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) as a Mortgage Underwriting Officer. In 1985 she returned to Colonial Bank which eventually became Bank of Boston- Connecticut where she was an Assistant Vice President handling underwriting for conventional and jumbo residential mortgages.
In retirement, she continued doing contract underwriting for MGIC for two years before finally settling in to retirement sharing time between their homes in Palmetto, Florida and Heritage Village in Southbury.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Theodore Y. Korsgren, Jr.; Daughters Siri A. Korsgren of Norwalk, CT; Elin Korsgren Leonard (Peter) of Henniker, NH, Disa Austin (Bill) of Northfield, CT., and Anna Korsgren of Torrington, CT.; and Grandchildren: James Leonard and Katie Leonard of Henniker, NH and Sam Jones of Norwalk, CT.
Terry enjoyed her family, her social life at Heritage Village, and later The Lutheran Home, her art work, and her many shopping trips. She was very proud of her family. And she enjoyed her many friends at The Split Rail and at Woodbury Diner in Woodbury.
