SOUTHBURY- Mr. Teunis S. Willemse, 89, of Southbury, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008 at home. He was the husband of Diva (Lozano) Willemse.
Mr. Willemse was born September 22, 1919 in Utrecht, Netherlands, son of the late Adrian and Catherine (Oppelaar) Willemse. He has resided in Southbury for over 4 and a half years, previously living in Buchanan, NY and Ossining, NY. He was a conductor on the Dutch Railroad, fought in WWII with the Allied Forces, and worked as a mechanical engineer in the U.S. He enjoyed classical and opera music, soccer, and loved chocolate and his native country, the Netherlands. He was a wonderful and much loved husband and father.
Besides his wife of 44 years, he leaves a son Peter Willemse of the Netherlands, two daughters, Irene Jagde of Brewster, NY and Jennifer Berntsen of Southbury, a sister, Emmy VanArkkel of New Jersey, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Willemse and a sister, Alice Ebbinhuysen.
