Woodbury- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terri Louise Francq Hale, a loving wife, devoted mother, and passionate advocate for nature and wellness. Terri passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home in Woodbury. She was 61 years old. Born on October 25, 1962, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, Terri was the daughter of Dr. Edward and Cathryn Francq. After completing her high school education in Exeter New Hampshire, she embarked on an incredible journey of knowledge and personal growth. Terri earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master of Science in Education from Central Connecticut State University. Driven by her passion for education and her desire to help others, she furthered her education at Cornell University, becoming a Certified Wellness Counselor and received a Master Naturalist Certification from the James L. Goodwin Nature Center. Terri's dedication to holistic well-being led her to become a Certified Yoga Instructor. Her commitment to her own wellness and that of others served as an enduring inspiration. Throughout her life, Terri led a diverse and fulfilling professional journey. She shared her love for learning as an Adjunct Mathematics Professor at Naugatuck Valley Community College and as a Science and Math Teacher at Chase Collegiate School. Terri also made her mark as an entrepreneur, founding the successful Elemental Designs Candle Company and Bygone Books, both testaments to her creative spirit. Always seeking to uplift and support her community, Terri volunteered her time on the Woodbury Scholarship Fund Board of Directors and actively participated in the North Congregational Church Women's Fellowship. Terri's hobbies and passions defined her essence. She found solace in nature while hiking, biking, and kayaking, and took immense pleasure in reading by the warm glow of a crackling fire. Her nurturing nature extended to the natural world as she fostered monarch butterflies and shared her love for knitting and weaving with those she cherished. She also was a member of both the First Congregational Church choir and the Femina Melodia Acapella Group. Terri's legacy is carried on by her beloved husband of 34 years, George W. Hale III. She is also survived by their two sons, George Edward Francq Hale of Somerville, MA, and Avery William Francq Hale of Enfield, CT. Terri's sister, Linda F. Betsch of Granby, CT, her niece, Jennica Betsch of Washington DC, and nephew, Nathan Betsch of Brighton, MA. Terri's cousins Robert Coatney of Ashburn, VA, Tricia Moore of Tucson, AZ, and Pat Moore of Harrisonburg, VA. The love Terri had for her family was immense. In honor of Terri's memory, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Friends, family, and members of the community will have the opportunity to gather, reminisce, and offer their final goodbyes, as we come together to honor the wonderful woman that she was. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to RVNA Hospice Services at Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, 27 Governor Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877, or to the Flanders Nature Center in Woodbury, CT. These organizations align with Terri's deep commitment to well-being and environmental conservation. Her compassion, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place will be remembered by all those she knew.
