Susan Bowman

Susan Sue” Bowman, aged 75, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by family. She was born on March 8th 1950 in Norwalk, CT to Harry and Dorothy Winniewisser.

She spent her early years in Wilton, CT and moved to Newtown at the age of 7. Sue graduated from Newtown High School in 1968 and then attended Danbury Beauty school, which began her lengthy career as a hairstylist. She went on to own salons in Woodbury and New Milford, CT.

It was her career that brought Ralph Bowman into her life. They spent 27 joyous years as husband and wife. They enjoyed many years living down south, first in Florida, then in Ralph's native state of Alabama. She returned to Connecticut in 2024 to be close to family.

Sue is predeceased by her husband Ralph, her brother Bill Winnewisser, and stepson Eric Bowman.

She is survived by her son Paul (Erin) Varga of Newtown, CT., son Steven Varga of Fort Myers, FL., grandchildren Abigail Varga and Thomas Varga of Newtown CT, her sister Jane (Rick) Sturgis of Newtown CT, niece Sarah Sturgis of Sandy Hook, CT and stepdaughter Kendra Arts of Belle Plaine, MN.

Sue enjoyed traveling with her husband, was a devoted and talented crocheter, and most of all, adored her miniature dachshund Sadie.

Sue’s family would like to thank all those who helped care for Sue during her illness.
