Obituary

Dr. Steven Leslie Eisen, age 72, passed away Monday March 11, 2013 at his home of 42 years, after a long illness which he fought with grace and tremendous strength. He was surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Emily (Littman) Eisen, his son, Andrew, and a whole slew of honorary sons and daughters who considered him a second father.
Steve was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 15, 1940, the son of the late Sidney Eisen and Bernice Leffert Eisen. He was raised in Roslyn, NY, and attended Union College and Albany Medical School. After completing his residency in Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he served the greater Waterbury community as a Neurologist since 1970.
Steve was on the medical staffs of Waterbury Hospital at St. Mary's Hospital, and served on the clinical faculty of Yale School of Medicine where he greatly enjoyed teaching residents the finer points of Neurology and gracious living.
At Waterbury Hospital, he served as Medical Director of Neurology and Stroke, was Chief of Medicine and later became Chief of Staff. Until the time of his death, he was a member of the board of the Greater Waterbury Health Network. In his hometown of Bethlehem, he was on the Planning Commission and served as its chair for several years.
In addition, he served as director of the Waterbury Boy's Club and the Mattatuck Museum. He was also a member of the Parent's Committee at The Taft School and Middlebury College.
Steve loved music and sailing, good food and the beaches of Block Island. He loved his friends and most of all, he loved his family.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Friday March 15th at 10: 30am at B'Nai Israel 444 Main St. North, Southbury.

Visitation: Shiva will be observed on Tuesday March 19th and Wednesday March 20th from 5-8 p.m. at the family home.
