Southbury- Stephen Lee Miller, age 80, of Southbury, passed away peacefully at Danbury Regional Hospice on November 16, 2024. He was the devoted husband to Amy Roth.

Stephen was born on May 29, 1944 in Bridgeport, CT to the late William Ronald Frederick Miller and Dorothy Ihne Clifford. Growing up in Norwalk, Stephen was educated at local schools and was a graduate of Brian McMahon High School, Class of 1962. After high school, Stephen furthered his education at the University of New Haven, obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in English Literature in 1976.

He had a great work ethic which started early in life. While attending school in the evenings and taking computer programming classes, he worked as a delivery man for Coca Cola.

He eventually worked as a consultant in computer software design at many prestigious companies such as, Xerox, American Express, Exxon Mobil, Nynex, and the US Government, mostly in New York City.

In 1967, Stephen married Gabriele Drews, eventually starting their family, welcoming a son and 2 beautiful daughters. Although he and Gabriele went their separate ways in 2001, Stephen fell in love again with Amy Roth. They married in 2017 and enjoyed a quiet loving life together in Montpelier, VT until recently returning to Connecticut in 2023. Their special bond was strong, enjoying the company of one another right to the very end. Never wanting to be apart, they even shared a room at the Lutheran Home in Southbury, CT.  She was his biggest advocate until she, herself, became ill.

Spending time with his family was always the most important thing to Stephen. He would often take time to share his knowledge and hobbies with those he loved, such as his fondness for the outdoors and staying active. He would often be found hiking, never missing an opportunity to point out a frog or a turtle, playing basketball, canoeing, golfing, and in the winter months, sledding. He even dabbled in photography, often capturing his favorite places in nature.

Stephen was also someone who enjoyed the quiet aspects of life; whether he was curled up with his cats, Indie and Cairo, enjoying a science fiction novel or watching his favorite sports teams, he treasured those relaxing moments. Ultimately, He loved being outdoors with his family, was an avid cat lover, loved all his grandchildren, and taking pictures of nature.

Besides his loving wife, Amy Roth, Stephen leaves behind his children, Jennifer Treadwell (David), Gregory Miller (Melissa), and Susan Parks (Timothy), his grandchildren, Abbey Treadwell, Katie Treadwell, Emily Treadwell, Josh Miller, Jake Miller, Adam Miller, Lucas Perry, and his great-granddaughter Amor Perry. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, William Karstens, his nephew, Sandy Karstens (Karla), and niece, Sofia Karstens. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Judith Karstens.
