Solomon Gross, 93, of Heritage Village, passed away on Thursday May 27, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy Ruth (Kaus).
Mr. Gross was born July 26, 1916 in New York City, NY, son of the late Abraham and Dora (Winters) Gross. Mr. Gross retired as Deputy Inspector, NYC Police Department after 31 years of service. After his retirement, he was chairman and developed the Administration of Justice Department at Western Connecticut State University for 10 years employing four full time Professors and numerous Adjunct Professors from areas of the Civil and Criminal Justice Systems. Mr. Gross was a member of Shomrim Society in New York City, the Captain's Police Association, NYC, NY and a founding member of the B'Nai Chaim Synagogue of Southbury.
Mr. Gross has resided in Connecticut since 1970, having lived in Southbury since 1991 and previously in Woodbury and Simsbury.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Lewis Gross and his wife Susan Hazelwood of Benicia, CA and Daniel Gross and his wife Ilene of Massapequa, Long Island, NY and a daughter Martha Ginsberg and her husband Harvey of Torrington, CT., 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral: Church Not Applicable
Services: A funeral service will be held at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, on Sunday May 30th at 1pm. Burial will follow in Farband Cemetery, Morris.
Visitation: A period of shivah will be observed at 827A Heritage Village, Southbury from May 31st to June 2nd.
