Mrs. Sohan Devi Mathur:

On Friday October 15, 2021, Mrs. Sohan Devi Mathur of Southbury, CT passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years.

Sohan Devi Mathur, affectionately called Jiya, Nani Saheb and Dadi Saheb, was born on August 10, 1931 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.  She had 3 brothers and 1 sister.  Jiya married her love, Ram Pratap Mathur, in May of 1945, who preceded her in death in 2001.  They had 2 sons and 3 daughters: Satya Narain - Madhu, Hemant - late Prithvi Raj, late Manju – Harish – Kusum, Prem - late Yogesh, and Dinesh - Varsha.

Jiya's 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren gave her immense joy.

Jiya enjoyed traveling, cooking food to feed her family, and being surrounded by her loved ones.  Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting.  Jiya was a devout Hindu.  She enjoyed reading religious books and prayed each day.

Jiya leaves behind many family members in India and the US.  Jiya's warm smile, loving eyes, and caring nature will be sorely missed.

A funeral will take place on Monday October 18, 2021 at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N.  Southbury, CT.

The prayer services start at 11am. A virtual option will be available for and sent to those who cannot attend in person.
