Obituary

Malcolm "Skip" Jaret, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2026, with his wife, Cyndi, and their son, Willie, by his side. Born on July 21, 1954, to Janet and Malcolm Jaret Sr., Skip grew up in Weston, Connecticut and enjoyed a rich educational journey, attending Gould Academy in Maine for high school, earning his associate's degree from Dean Junior College, and furthering his studies at American University.

Skip dedicated many years of his life to the family business, Calico Industries, its transition to new ownership. In 1979, he married his cherished partner, Cyndi Barbieri, and they created a vibrant life together in Woodbury after moving there in 1983. They were blessed with their son, Willie, in 1986.

A supporter of the Woodbury community, Skip served as the moderator at First Church and passionately ran the charity Thanksgiving dinner for two decades, providing warmth and sustenance to countless families. He proudly held the position of commissioner for the Little League of Woodbury, fostering a love for sports in the community’s youth.

Skip’s love for the great outdoors shone through in his adventures hiking, especially on the trails of Mt. Washington. His enthusiasm for hiking inspired many as he took on the role of hiking counselor at Silver Lake Camp. He also dedicated many years to West Chevrolet and later to the UPS Store in Southbury.

A member of the Woodbury Lions and a devoted fan of the Yankees, Skip’s only fault was his spirited support of the Jets! However, it is his unwavering love for his family that will be his lasting legacy. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cyndi; his son, Willie, and his fiancée, Madison Smith; grandchildren Jaxon and Fallon; his siblings and their partners; and a vast extended family who cherish his memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful friends and neighbors who have offered support during Skip’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considering a donation to a local charity in Skip's name, continuing his legacy of generosity and community engagement.
