Shirley Emily Schmitt, 101, of Southbury, Connecticut passed away on November 18, 2024.

Shirley was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on November 3, 1923. After graduating from

Norwalk General Hospital School of Nursing in 1945, she continued as a nurse at Bridgeport

Hospital. Shirley retired in 1987 as the Assistant Director of Nursing Education at the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. After moving to Kent, Connecticut, she was a home-health aide for many years.

Shirley will be missed by her extended family members and many friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Emily (Donaldson) Schmitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to any local Food Bank or Animal Shelter.

As Shirley wished, there will be no services, and a private burial will be at Flanders Cemetery in Kent at a future date.
