Southbury- Shirley (Robertson) Brazauskas departed this earthly realm from the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family, January 10, 2024. Shirley was born June 11, 1931 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Percy and Eva (Bakke) Robertson. She was the loving wife of her beloved late husband Algird, to whom she was married for 59 years.
Shirley was a graduate of Crosby High School and Waterbury School of Nursing. She furthered her education in Nursing at Boston University.
Shirley was a dedicated nurse who was a member of the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing Faculty. She spent her early career teaching and then in the private sector as a Medical Office Manager.
Shirley's passions included a good mystery novel, solving crossword puzzles and watching hummingbirds from her window. Her greatest love, however, was for her family, to which she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered for her culinary skills, especially her apple pies and Lobster Newburgh. Shirley will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, Shirley was also predeceased by her brother Herbert Robertson. Shirley is survived by her 5 children - Karl (Joyce) Brazauskas, Eve (Chuck) Walton, Matthew (Wendy) Brazauskas, Karen Brazauskas, and Julie Brazauskas- 8 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and her sister Beverly Walton and sister-in-law Mary O'Connell.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the wonderful care Shirley received at River Glen Nursing Facility and by Regional Hospice.
