Obituary

Sara-Jane Fryncko, 89, of Oxford, died Thursday, July 14th, 2016. Widow of Peter Fryncko, Sara-Jane was born October 10, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. She received a Bachelors in English from UCONN and a Masters in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University.
She worked at many libraries throughout her career, including Seymour Public Library and Southbury High School. She retired after teaching in the Trumbull Public School System for 26 years. Her passion was children's literature and she instilled a love of reading to both the children that she taught and the adults that worked with her.
Throughout her life, Sara-Jane was always an active member of her church, the Oxford United Church of Christ. She served on many of the committees and ran the Sunday School Program for many years. She was also active in the Oxford Garden Club and the Audubon Society.
She lived most of her life in the home that she and her husband designed and built. Much of her time was spent outside in one of her many perennial gardens. She meticulously maintained each one to ensure that they had a life and character all their own. She was also sure to keep her bird feeders full of a variety of goodies to attract all kinds of birds and other wildlife to her yard that she enjoyed watching from her patio.
To her children and grandchildren, Sara-Jane was the spark in the family. She always knew what to say when you were feeling down and was eager to give hugs just because. She fueled their curiosity with a strainer and a bucket for catching minnows in the brook or a lap for reading her favorite fairy tale. Every holiday was spent in her home playing board games and eating favorite meals or the spectacular new recipe that she had to try out. Everyone helped in the kitchen, even the smallest hands were welcome, and everyone was allowed to lick the spoon. She left a mark on each person that she met, whether family or friend, and the memories that she left are ones full of laughter and love that will be cherished forever.
She leaves her son, John (and wife Liz Franko), daughter, Marcia (Fryncko) Zeidler, grandchildren, Eric (and wife Susan), Kate, Lauren, and Jenny (and fiance TJ Sherwood), and great-granddaughters, Emmy and Ellie. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Peter Palumbo and sister-in-law, Ann (Fryncko) Johnson as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her sister, Mary-Lou Palumbo and granddaughter, Lindsey Zeidler.
