Miss Ruth Mary Phelan, 84, of Heritage Village died unexpectedly Sunday June 15, 2008. Ruth, born September 8, 1923 in Waterbury, was daughter of the late George and Helen (Bowers) Phelan. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and the Diocesan College of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She received her Master's degree from Fairfield University. She was a Sister of St. Joseph for 25 years, and a teacher in the Parochial school system and Waterbury public school system. She was a basketball enthusiast and was a volunteer tutor.
She is survived by her brother George Phelan of Southbury, her sister Hermiline Pollard of Southbury, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her companion Raymond Quinn of Clinton. She was
predeceased by her brother, John Phelan.

Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 21, 2008 at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury at 11: 30 am. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
