Robert Leslie Rose, 73, of Torrington, Connecticut passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Husband of Mary Louise Rose (Gardner) of almost 50 years, Bob was born August 29, 1950 in Bayshore Long Island, New York to the late Frank and Francis Mary Rose (Welton).
Bob moved around a lot due to his father's work and he attended three different high schools. He graduated from Riverdale High School in New Jersey. Bob worked as a Radiology Tech at Danbury and Hartford Hospitals, was an EMT, a manager of a furniture and carpet store, owned a retail magic store, until he finally joined Prudential Insurance Company where he stayed till he retired.
Bob belonged to many organizations. His proudest one was being the youngest researcher classified by the US Government on the assassination of President Kennedy at the age of 18. He received a LUTCF and CLU designation, belonged to the International Brotherhood of Magicians, former President of Northwestern Association of Life Underwriters, Million Dollar Roundtable, Academy of Honor, Prudential Leaders Club, National Quality Award, Prudential President's Citation, former Moderator for the National Association of Life Underwriters Training Council, and Author of Inventors Reference Guide.
Bob had many little side businesses throughout the years. He loved to read, cook, fish, and spend time with his family. He loved magic. He would entertain all the kids, nurses, staff throughout the years with new tricks. Bob was a huge music lover, he was in a band in his younger days, played many instruments, and wrote many songs. He will be remembered mostly for his giant sense of humor and always wanting to make people laugh.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Rose (Gardner) of Torrington, his children, Michael Rose and his wife, Kristin of Auburn, California, Heather Bukowski (Rose) and her husband, Daniel of Terryville, Connecticut and Jennifer Cwalina (Rose) and her husband, Craig of Plantsville Connecticut. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren that he loved more than life itself, Dylan and David Bukowski, Brett and Ashley Rose, and Carter Cwalina. He leaves behind his sister Patricia Smith (Rose), of Troy, Ohio and his brother Douglas Rose and his wife, Augusta of Sherman, Connecticut, his brother in law James Gardner and his wife Shirley of Northfield, Connecticut, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother in law Dick Smith and his best friend Mike Roth.
A celebration of life will be held on January 22, 2024 at the Munson- Lovetere Funeral Home at 235 Main Street North, Southbury, Connecticut from 11:00am to 1:00pm with a service at 12:15pm. A private burial will be held at a later date. Per Bob's request he wanted a celebration of life and asked that people wear colorful clothing in honor of him.
