IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Plourde
September 9, 1954 – May 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert John Plourde, 70, of Southbury, who left us peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, Lynn, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob, as he was affectionately known, was born on September 9, 1954, in Miami, Florida, to the late Irving and Virginia Plourde.
A true enthusiast of life, Bob had an unyielding passion for motorcycles and cars. His adventurous spirit led him on countless journeys across the country, where he reveled in the freedom of the open road, often accompanied by his beloved pickup truck or motorcycle. Camping along the way allowed him to stop and connect with nature, savoring the beauty of the great outdoors.
Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life and working with his hands—tending to his yard, experimenting with gardening, and crafting furniture in his cherished woodworking shop. His creativity extended to outfitting their van for many memorable camping trips with Lynn, creating moments to be treasured forever. With a heart full of love, Bob nurtured many cats and dogs throughout his life, embodying his deep compassion for animals.
Professionally, Bob dedicated many years to the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation as a heavy machine operator, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Lynn (Bennett) Plourde, and his dear sisters, Nancy Piester and Cathy Phinney (Eric). His legacy will also live on through his nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who will fondly remember his generous spirit and infectious laughter. Funeral services to honor Bob's remarkable life are being held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00AM at South Britain Congregational Church located 693 S. Britain Rd. Southbury, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bob's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting the kindness and care with which he lived his life. Bob may be gone from our sight, but he will forever remain in our hearts. To leave an online condolence or share memories, please visit munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
