Robert Murray Paterson
Bob Paterson passed away at his home on November 12, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, January 2, 1937, to Robert Paterson and Mae Murray of Scotland. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters: Jean McDowell Kelly and Mary Roberts.
He is survived by his children, Susan Levesque and husband Dan, and their children Zachary and Dylan of Plantsville, CT; Jennifer Paterson Suttile and husband Frank and their daughter Paige of Cheshire, CT; Robert Paterson and wife Krista Matsen and their children Quentin and Thatcher of Woodstock, CT. Nieces, Margo McDowell Cowan of Sugar Land, TX; Patti McDowell of Southbury, CT; Stephanie McDowell of Sugar Land, TX. Nephews, Andy Roberts and Mike Roberts of Pennsylvania, Mathew Perucci of Southbury CT, and Shaun McDowell of Sugar Land TX; and his ex-wife Bonnie Reed of Plantsville, CT.
Bob was an Eagle Scout and he was a graduate of Ferris Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a Bachelor's Degree. He taught business, and was an advisor at the Morley Stanwood High School in Morley, Michigan before joining Dow Corning. He was later transferred to Connecticut in 1965. Bob began his career in real estate in 1970 with Southbury Associates. e HeHe was co-owner of real estate companies that eventually became Main Street Realty. Bob and his partners designed and built 10 Main Street South, a landmark in Southbury. Main Street Realty was purchased by William Raveis Real Estate where he remained affiliated until his passing.
Bob was a father, uncle, grandfather, friend, partner, mentor and confidant to so many people. He had a unique ability to make each person's relationship special. He was proud to be a conservative and believed in individuality. Bob was a pillar in the community and well known and respected among his peers.
Bob shared many of his talents with friends and family. He was a wood carver and hand carved birds, bugs, rocking horses, spoons and ladles. He also carved antlers into eagles and customized tool handles. He made furniture, grandfather clocks, wall clock cases, and many other items with wood and leather. He was always lending a hand and could create, repair, and build anything. He had a keen sense of how things worked and was very creative. Bob remodeled many homes and several condos in heritage village. He left his mark with his beautiful millwork on many locations, including all of his family's homes.
Bob had a passion for antique firearms, and was a proud member of the NRA . He also restored antique cars and attended and participated in local car shows. He loved deep sea fishing, as long as bologna sandwiches were involved.

Services: Everyone is welcome to participate in sharing a celebration of Bob's life that will take place Sunday, November 23, 2014, at The Heritage Hotel, Heritage Village, Southbury, CT from 4-7pm. Story sharing to begin at 5pm, we invite you to share a story if you wish, as Bob touched many lives during his lifetime and will be greatly missed.
