NEWELL - Newell, Robert H., 77 of Naugatuck, formerly of Woodbury, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at VITAS Healthcare of St. Mary's in Waterbury surrounded by his family. He was born in Waterbury on August 21, 1937, the son of the late Ross E. and Beryl Newell of Woodbury. A graduate of the Gunnery School in Washington and of the University of Bridgeport. Owner of H.S. Coe Company in Waterbury. Past member and Former Fire Chief of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department. A longtime member of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge, Woodbury. An avid hunter and fisherman. Survived by his three children; Susan Marshall and her husband Michael of Watertown, Robert R. Newell and his wife Anita Cipriano of Middlebury, and Jennifer Murphy and her husband Ryan of Watertown. His grandchildren Melissa Marshall Ramos, Michael Marshall, Mackenzie Murphy and two great-grandchildren Alex and Rachel Ramos. And his sister Betty Depuy, of Walla Walla, WA.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Freelove Manor, the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale and the VITAS Unit at St. Mary's.

Services: His family will receive friends in the Parlor of the North Congregational Church, 11 Main Street No., Woodbury on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 9: 00 to 10: 00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Church at 10: 00 a.m. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT is handling the arrangements. A private burial service will be held in the New North Cemetery, Woodbury in the Spring.
