Robert A. Mitchell, Sr., 74, of New Road, Southbury, died peacefully Thursday March 18, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Marjorie (Wildman) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was born in Danbury on March 13, 1936 son of the late Clarence and Bessie (Godfrey) Mitchell. He had served with the United States Air Force, and had retired form the Sealed Air Corporation in Danbury after 22 years. He was an avid sports fan, and loved nature; especially his bird houses. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Robert A. Mitchell Jr., of Southbury, two daughters, Robin and her husband John Japs of Wolcott, Marci and her husband Bob Lowman of Waterbury, 2 sisters, Charlotte and her husband Oliver Olson of Danbury, Kathi and her husband John Hill of Danbury, 4 grandchildren, twins Nicholas and Tyler Japs, twins Amanda and Briana Japs, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters.

Cemetery: New North Cemetery
Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury
Funeral: South Britain Congregational Church
Services: A funeral service will be held at the South Britain Congregational Church on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 11 am. Burial will be held in the New North Cemetery Woodbury, with full military honors.
Visitation: Friends may call the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North on Monday March 22, 2010 from 4 to 8 pm.
