Robert Edward Lauer, 85, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.
Born in Waterbury, CT on August 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Amelia P. Lauer and John E. Lauer. Bob was the devoted husband of the late Linda Walker Lauer, with whom he shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. A graduate of Wilby High School, Bob earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Education and his Master’s degree in School Counseling from Western Connecticut State University. He dedicated his career to guiding youth, first as a science teacher and later as a longtime guidance counselor at Rochambeau Middle School in Southbury, CT. Bob was also a well-respected Connecticut realtor for many years. Deeply committed to his community, Bob was actively involved with the Connecticut Association of Realtors and volunteered extensively with the Lions Club, the American Red Cross, and the Elks Club, earning numerous awards and distinctions for his service.
His faith was also central to his life; he served on both the vestry and executive committees at Christ Episcopal Church in Waterbury. In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed gardening, traveling, fishing, and relaxing by his pool. Above all else, he was passionate about his family. If asked what he was most proud of, Bob would always say he was truly blessed to have such a loving family.
Bob was predeceased by his brother, William Lauer. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Pronovost and her husband John of Woodbury; his son, Mark Lauer and his wife Erica of Orange; and his four cherished grandchildren, Austin and Logan Pronovost, and Olivia and Nathan Lauer. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Janice Duszak; several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a wonderful circle of friends. Friends and family may gather for calling hours on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury, CT 06798. Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob’s memory to the Robert E. Lauer Scholarship Fund, established through the Region 15 School District.
