Mr. Robert William Kager, of Oxford died at home on January 6th after a long illness. He was the husband of Dolores (Sussmann).
Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 21, 1926 he was the only son and second of three children of the late Peter and Anne (McLoughlin) Kager. After graduating from St. Leonard High School, Robert enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served our country during World War II on the U.S.S. Dayton in the Pacific corridor.
After the Navy, he attended and graduated from New York University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. He worked for forty years for IBM Corporation in New York City, Armonk, NY and Southbury, CT. He served as the Town of Oxford's Treasurer from 1989 to 1991. His many interests included basketball, politics and sharing stories with his nine grandchildren.
Besides his wife he is survived by his four sons, Michael Kager and his wife Nora of Orleans, MA, Robert Kager and his wife Patty of Flower Mound, TX, Donald Kager and his wife Mary Bridget of Ridgefield, and Patrick Kager and his wife Catherine Clairmont of Concord, MA, his sister Joan Schaefer of Freehold, NJ and nine grandchildren, Samuel, Eve Kyle, Kade, Ciaran, Desmond, Bridget, Marisa and Adrian Kager. He was predeceased by his sister Muriel Kager Taylor.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 11th at 11:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford.
