Obituary

Waterbury - Robert Stanley Burgess, 74, of Waterbury, departed this life May 18, 2007 following a long
illness. Formerly of Southbury, Robert has now reunited with his wife, Florence (Deposit) Burgess. Robert was born in Bridgeport, CT, August 11, 1932, son of Lewis and Gertrude (Johnson) Burgess. Mr. Burgess served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He attended the University of Bridgeport
and worked for many years as a Drafting Engineer for such companies as Pitney-Bowes and Phillips Medical.
Some of the machinery he was involved with was the Hubble Space Telescope, and prototypes of what are now
MRI and CAT scan machines. He was also involved with designing the fire alarm pull boxes found in many
schools and buildings during the 1960's and 70's. In his later years, he was employed by Grolier in Danbury. He was also involved with the Cub Scouts as a Den Leader, and later on was a volunteer with the
Southbury Eagles Fife and Drum Corps. A longtime usher at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford, Mr.
Burgess was an avid history and movie buff. His skills at the barbecue grill were legendary.
A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by four children, Thomas Burgess of Southbury, Mary Bengston of Moultonborough, New Hampshire, Amy Kerrigan of Tarpon Springs, Florida and
Maura Burgess of Waterbury as well as seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. His
brother Jack Burgess and wife, Jean, of Evansville, Indiana, also survive him.

Remember I was always true
Remember that I always tried
Remember I loved only you
Remember me and smile,
For it's better to forget,
Than to remember me and cry
