SOUTHBURY- Mrs. Rita J. (Newman) Kolsby, 85, of 2B Heritage Village and Winter Park, FL, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at River Glen Health Center. She was the wife of Edwin B. Kolsby.
Lovely Rita was born July 7, 1921 in Harrisburg, PA, daughter of the late Louis and Ida (Sherman) Newman. She resided in Southbury for 30 years, previously living in Rowayton, CT and had worked for King Features in the Art Department. She was a member of the Womens Art Association in Washington, DC and the Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society. Lovely Rita enjoyed graphic art and collecting books in the arts and literature.
Besides her husband of 63 years, she leaves a son, Richard Kolsby of Atlanta, GA and two daughters, Susan A. Kniehl of West Haven and Iris Kolsby of Hamden. Also 7 grandchildren: Aimee Kolsby, Lisa Murray, Laurel Kolsby, Misty Beardsley, Kristi Kniehl, Laura Kniehl and James Kolsby, two great grandchildren, Megan and Myles Murray and two nieces, Emily Ambrosino and Abby Wenzel.
She was predeceased by a sister Alice Wenzel.
