Obituary

Richard M. Piorkowski, 83, passed away in the comfort of his home on October 20, 2022. Richard was born in Derby, Connecticut to the late Walter Piorkowski and Anne (Krupa) Piorkowski.

He married the love of his life Inez (Flint) Piorkowski, and they lived in Southbury for the past 58 years. He enjoyed spending his time with his family in New Hampshire overlooking Lake Francis where he owned a summer home for 21 years.

Richard was a graduate of Fairfield Preparatory School and Seton Hall University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs. He was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft for 37 years until his retirement in 1999. He was privileged to have worked directly with Igor Sikorsky, founder of the Helicopter. During his employment he was given the distinguished Manager of the Year Award for all of Connecticut and Westchester Counties.

He was actively involved with the Town of Southbury assisting with town elections. He also enjoyed singing with the St. Teresa of Avila choir and was a member of the Men's Club.

In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory are his sisters Helen Ingerick and Fran Klein of Florida as well as his children, Teresa Corcoran (John), Ilona Margison and Mark Piorkowski (Mandy). He adored his grandchildren Kyle, Niki, Claire, James, Holly, and Audrey and was proud of their many accomplishments. He was predeceased by his brother Walter (Zach) Piorkowski, and sisters Florence Kisly and Ann M. Kisly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday October 25, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Teresa Church, 146 Main Street South, Woodbury, Ct. Burial will immediately follow at New North Cemetery, Woodbury. Munson Lovetere Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Richard asked that we thank God for the many opportunities given to him during his lifetime and in lieu of flowers, the family ask that all perform a "Random Act of Kindness" in his memory.
